I live in a house of miracles powered by the light from within
Oh, how precious is the life that has been given to me, where the miracles happen ...
Jai-Jagdeesh lives and breathes through her creativity. From her birth, she was surrounded by yoga, meditation and sacred music, for which she is very grateful.
At the age of six, she began attending a boarding school in India as part of a foreign education program. During her adventurous childhood, she fully embraced all directions of creative expression. One year it was photography, another writing and painting, in high school dancing - of course inspired by Bollywood movies. With dancing came a strong desire for acting, but music remained her only constant.
Even before she started going to school, little Jai-Jagdeesh began learning to play the harmonium. Her parents, both musicians, taught her Sikh anthems, Sikh religion and mantras.
A few years after starting her studies, she founded a student music group - Jathu, which became one of the music representatives of her school, Miri Piri Academy. They performed wherever the school was invited and played once a month at the request of Yogi Bhajan at the entrance to the Golden Temple to help heal the wounds following the 1984 military attacks that destroyed part of this place of worship. Jai-Jagdeesh says the experience was a blessing to her, but she didn't realize it until a few years later.
After graduating, Jai-Jagdeesh decided to divert her attention from music, mantras and meditations. She returned to India, where she spent a year training bharatanatyam dance with C. Radha Krishna in Bangalore. After returning to the United States, she settled in Virginia and studied photography. During her studies, she joined the Megha Shakti dance ensemble and trained and performed with the beautiful Christel Stevens from Kalakshetry. It was thanks to her that she began working as an actress in the theater community in Washington, D.C.
In 2006, she took a step into the unknown and joined the International Classical Acting Project in Los Angeles, bringing herself into the company of inspiring people and amazing opportunities. She performed with ICAP, went to auditions, worked a lot. Even though she enjoyed it, she still felt she was missing something.
Long-time family friend and founder of Spirit Voyage Guru Ganesha Singh has always supported her in her creative search. In the autumn of 2008, he planned a concert tour with then-rising star Nirinjan Kaur and felt that he wanted to create something new and different on the tour after almost 10 years. When the producer suggested to invite Jai-Jagdeesh to start a dance performance every night, he picked up the phone and she was on the road with them in a month.
The Joy is Now tour was a turning point in revealing her "missing part". At one concert, Guru Ganesha handed her a microphone and asked her for supporting vocals on one song. From this very small experience, a deep understanding was born. What she really wanted was singing.
Over the next 18 months, Jai-Jagdeesh returned to her roots. She began teaching kundalini yoga and sat down to play harmonium daily, singing songs she had known since childhood. The creative force soon opened up and suddenly and unexpectedly began to compose music. After the encouraging words of her immediate surroundings, she decided to ask the music producer Krishana, whom she had known since childhood.
After several months of recording, Jai-Jagdeesh joined the Spirit Voyage family of recording artists. Her debut album "I Am Thine", a combination of sacred mantras and strong English lyrics, was released in the summer of 2011 and achieved record sales and recognition.
She has performed all over the world and at Sat Nam Fest festivals, and with her soulful voice and authentic style she appeals to crowds. In early 2012, she released her first meditation CD, "The Expansive Spirit," as part of the Spirit Voyage Meditation for Transformation series.
With humility, charm and kindness, Jai-Jagdeesh continues recording, performing and expressing the deepest creativity of her heart.
